Privacy Policy - Audio to Text Converter
Last updated: April 30, 2026
Overview
Audio to Text Converter records microphone audio, browser tab audio, mixed audio, or uploaded audio files and converts them to text. This policy explains what data is handled by the extension.
Data We Do Not Sell
- We do not sell audio, transcripts, API keys, license keys, or usage data.
- We do not inject tracking scripts into the pages you visit.
- We do not collect account passwords or page content unrelated to audio transcription.
Audio and Transcription Processing
When you use Web Speech, recognition is handled by the browser's speech service. When you use Groq Whisper, recorded audio is sent to Groq using the Groq API key you saved in Settings. ExtPilot does not operate a transcription backend for your audio.
Local Storage
The extension stores settings, local history, usage counters, Groq transcription key, optional AI summary configuration, and license status in browser extension storage. Transcript history is stored locally in your browser.
License Verification
When you activate Pro, the extension sends the license key and product identifier to ExtPilot's license verification server. Audio and transcript text are not included in license verification requests.
AI Summary
AI Summary is a Pro feature that uses the endpoint, model, and API key you configure. Transcript text is sent to that configured AI provider only when you click AI Summary.
Permissions
The extension requests side panel, storage, offscreen, tab capture, active tab, and tabs permissions to record browser audio, show the side panel, store settings, and open user-requested pages. Host access is limited to Groq API requests.
